Museo Delle Civilta photography

[edit]

Hello,

I do posts on Mesoamerican (Aztec, Maya etc) history and archeology, and also take photographs with the intent to eventually upload them here on Wikimedia.

I'm reaching out because the Museo Delle Civilta is having a temporary exhibition (which ends February 16th) featuring a Mesoamerican/early colonial Mexican tapestry, and I and some other Mesoamerican enthusiasts are interested in getting photos of it for Wikimedia. (There are also other objects on display not a part of the temporary exhibition I may also be interested in, though those are less urgent)

I was wondering if you were willing or able to go to the museum (I'm not sure of your exact location, but based on your user category, I think you're no more then an hour or two away from the Museum?) to take some photos to upload here on Wikimedia with a CC-BY License? I'd be willing to pay you for your time spent traveling and taking photos if necessary.

Please let me know if you are interested, and if so as well as what sort of camera you have access to and when you think you might be able to go.

Thank you!

Hi!
If it can be useful to you, I would be very interested in visiting the Museum of Civilization, also because it is in my city, it would take me about an hour to get there.
Anyway, I was looking at the museum's website, and it talks about a collection of American arts and cultures, but it doesn't mention a tapestry, or any "Mesoamerican" things.
Just to be safe, I'm attaching the museum's website, also available in English, so you can check it out yourself, if I missed something!
Let me know!
Cheers! Nicholas Gemini (talk) 07:57, 8 February 2025 (UTC)Reply
Hello!
The object in question in the temporary exhibit is known as the Tlamachayatl, it's a piece made in the early colonial period with a mix of European and Mesoamerican artistic influences. You can it on display in the exhibition here.
However, there are other pieces at the museum I would also be interested in photos of, if you have the time to take photos of other things as well.
If you do go:
- How long would you be able to spend there the day you go
- What days are open to you to travel
- What camera would you be using?
- How much money would you want as compensation?
Thank you for your time with this!

To go I would have to organize my work (I work as a bartender), take a day off from my work duties.
For that visit I think I would need a maximum of two hours to see it all and take pictures.
I have a Sony DSC-H300 camera.
The ticket is very cheap, and I repeat, it won't take that long to visit and photograph that exhibition, so I don't want any compensation.
At the moment I'm not sure if I can go, I have to organize my work as I told you, but I'll let you know in the next few days. Nicholas Gemini (talk) 08:24, 10 February 2025 (UTC)Reply
