Expert Tips and Tricks for the Perfect Zucchini Bread Every Time

  • Get the measurements right. Even though zucchini bread is a quick bread, if you have something off, it will mess with the outcome.
  • Avoid overmixing. Once it’s just combined, that’s when it’s ready. Overmixing will give you gummy zucchini bread.
  • Don’t drain your grated zucchini. In other zucchini recipes, that liquid is a curse, but in this bread, it keeps it nice and moist. Along with the applesauce, it lends a lovely texture that is never dry.
  • No nuts? No problem! You can omit the walnuts or use something else instead like dried cranberries or chocolate chips. Feel free to make without any add-ins first and see what you’d like to add next time.

Expert Tips and Tricks for the Perfect Egg Frittata Every Time

  • Don’t skimp on the dairy. With frittatas, using heavy cream is the best because it has enough fat. Using lower fat options like skim milk or 2% will result in a watery frittata.
  • Cook your veggies first. If you throw your veggies into the frittata as-is, they will make it watery and ruin the texture of this dish.
  • Cheese is a must! Cheese brings it all together and adds a nice creaminess. If you don’t have goat cheese or don’t like it, you can use sharp cheddar or parmesan.
  • Don’t overcook it. Follow my egg frittata recipe to prevent this travesty so your frittata comes out with the perfect taste and texture!
What is the difference between an omelet and a frittata

Is a frittata a breakfast food?

It certainly can be a breakfast food, though a frittata can be served for any meal.

What ’s the difference between a frittata and a quiche?

When it comes to a frittata vs quiche, quiche is made with a crust. A frittata is more like a crustless version that has a creamier texture.

What is the difference between an omelet and a frittata?

Frittatas are cooked with low heat in a slow way as the oven provides. An omelet is cooked on the stove over high heat. Omelets should be served hot off the stove while frittatas can be cooled to room temperature and enjoyed.

What kind of pan should I use for a frittata?

In this recipe, you’ll use a 9×13 casserole dish. I find most people have at least one of these. Other recipes use a cast iron skillet.

Do you add milk to a frittata?

While heavy cream is the best for a creamier texture, full-fat milk can also be used if that’s all you’ve got. Avoid anything low-fat though or it will make your frittata watery.

How to Cook Frittata

Frittata begins on the stovetop by cooking your veggies up. Then it cooks in a casserole dish in your oven until it’s ready.

How Long to Cook Frittata

At 350F, your frittata will need to bake for 20 to 25 minutes. Make sure you check in on it as all ovens vary. The eggs will continue cooking from the residual heat when you remove it.

The center will not be jiggly and your edges will be golden brown. If a knife inserted in the center comes out clean, it’s ready!

Why is my frittata watery?

It could be several factors. If you use low-fat dairy, that will make your frittata watery. Also, if you do not cook your veggies before adding them, they will release too much water and ruin the texture.

Why is my frittata spongy?

A spongy frittata is the result of overcooking. Make sure you follow the cook times in this recipe and check it before the timer goes off.

Do you add milk to a frittata

What goes well with Frittata?

You can serve a simple green salad, home fries, hash browns, or a toasty bread basket of goodies. For a brunch, I often put out pastries for the kids too. Frittatas are very easy to pair with pretty much anything.

What goes with a frittata for breakfast?

With breakfast, a fruit platter always works as do breakfast potatoes and pastries.

Homemade frittata recipe

How to Store Frittata?

Frittata needs to be stored in the fridge. Once everyone has had their fill, put it in an airtight container and refrigerate promptly.

How Long Does Frittata Last?

In your fridge, you can keep that frittata for about 3 days. If anything is still left, freeze it.

Can You Freeze Frittata?

Yes, you can freeze a frittata. The best way is to slice it into pieces and put it on a baking sheet. Once they freeze, move them to an airtight container. This way, you can easily heat them for individual servings or all together. You should use your frittata from the freezer within 2 to 3 months.

How to Reheat Frittata?

You can heat them from frozen at 275F for 20 minutes. This will warm it up without ruining the texture.

  • Grease a bowl and put the dough in, cover it, and let it rise for 2 hours.
  • Punch it again then roll it out and cut donuts out of the dough. Heat oil in a pot and put a few donuts in cooking them one minute per side. Let them drain off on wire racks, make your glaze, and voila!

  • Donut holes! Don’t forget to make the donut holes, they are often the kids favorites!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup whole milk warmed to 110F
  • 1 tbsp active dry yeast
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 8 tbsp unsalted butter melted
  • 1 1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1/4 ground nutmeg
  • salt pinch
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 quarts vegetable oil
Donut Glaze Recipe
  • 2 cups confectioners sugar
  • 1/3 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract

Method

  1. First, prepare the dough. Whisk the warm milk, yeast, and sugar together. Set aside and allow to sit for 5 minutes. The mixture should be frothy on top after 5 minutes.
  2. After 5 minutes, add the yeast mixture into a stand mixer. Add the eggs, butter, vanilla, nutmeg, salt, and 2 cups of the flour into the stand mixer. Beat on low speed and scrape down the sides of the bowl as needed. Add the remaining flour until the dough comes together, around 2 minutes.
  3. Once the dough comes together, knead on a lightly floured surface and form into a smooth ball. Grease a large bowl with oil and place the dough in the bowl, ensuring it’s fully coated with oil on all sides. Cover and allow the rise for about 2 hour or until doubled in size.
  4. Once the dough has risen, punch it down to release the air. Use a rolling pin to roll the dough out until it is 1/2 inch thick. Use a 3.5 inch donut cutter to cut into 12 donuts. Place the donuts on baking sheets lined with parchment paper and cover.
  5. In a large pot, heat the oil to 375 F. Add 2-3 donut at a time and cook for a minute per side. Place the donuts on a wire rack. Now, make the glaze. Whisk all of the glaze ingredients together and dip the warm donuts into the glaze, making sure to coat both sets. Wait for the glaze to harden and then enjoy!

Expert Tips and Tricks for the Perfect Hashbrown Casserole Every Time

  • Let the hashbrowns thaw a bit. This keeps your hash brown potato casserole from being runny and also allows you to combine the ingredients more easily.
  • Drain them too. Once you let them thaw, make sure you drain out excess moisture for the best casserole.
  • Cheese it up. You can add more cheese if you wish! It just makes your cheesy hash browns better.
  • Use low sodium if needed. You may have noticed I didn’t add salt in my ingredients. With the cream of chicken soup and the cheese, it’s already going to be salty enough. But if you worry about heart health, choose the reduced sodium version of the soup.

The trick is shredding them on a grater, then rinsing and draining them to remove the starch. From there, you can get them ready to use in this hashbrown casserole recipe.

You must drain them and dry them properly first. Potatoes retain lots of water. Getting that water out is the secret to crispy hashbrowns.

Put them in cold water for 15 minutes. This will keep them from turning gray too and also help them get crispy.

Can I substitute fresh potatoes for frozen hash browns?

Absolutely! Though you will need to do more prep work. The frozen hashbrowns shorten your prep and cooking time. If you’re not in a hurry, fresh potatoes will work just fine.

Expert Tips and Tricks for the Perfect Pancakes

  • Check the baking powder – most people never think to check the expiration date on their baking powder. If your baking powder is old or expired, you will find that your pancakes will come out flat instead of fluffy.
  • Sift your dry ingredients – by sifting or whisking your dry ingredients you will avoid getting lumps in your pancakes and will end up with a deliciously smooth texture to your pancakes.
  • Do not overmix – when learning how to make pancake batter, avoid over-mixing the batter as it will change the texture of the pancakes.
  • Use oil – use oil or oil cooking spray over butter when cooking pancakes. Butter can brown and burn more easily than oil. Oil will give you even brown crispy edges without burning them.
  • Go big – when learning how to cook pancakes, use a large skillet. Pancakes spread in the skillet and small skillets make it very difficult to flip the pancake properly. I prefer my large 12 inch skillet as it gives you much more room to get all the way under the pancake with the spatula.

How to Reheat Pancakes

The fastest and easiest way to reheat your pancakes is in the microwave. It takes about 20 to 30 seconds depending on the wattage of your microwave to heat up one serving of pancakes.

You can also use your toaster, but if you have a large batch of them to heat up, use your oven. Simply preheat to 350F, then put your pancakes in a single layer on a foil-lined baking sheet. Cover the pancakes securely with foil and bake it for up to 10 minutes or until they’re all hot and ready.
